Crossroads Receives the 2022 Women’s Choice Award® as one of America’s Best Hospitals for Orthopedics and Emergency Care
Women have higher rates of arthritis than men, some 60% of joint replacement surgeries are performed on women.
“Women have different orthopedic needs, particularly as they grow older and become more at risk for osteoporosis and fractures. They are also staying active much longer,” said Delia Passi, founder and CEO of the Women’s Choice Award. “Being treated with the proper level of care impacts one’s health, well-being, and healing, so it is critical for women to know those hospitals that have demonstrated the highest level of quality care for their patients, with a special focus on the needs and preferences of women. We are the only award that recognizes a hospital’s ability to meet women’s distinctive needs.”
The methodology used to select Crossroads Community Hospital as one of America’s Best Hospitals for Orthopedics evaluates Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey results along with primary research about women’s healthcare preferences. Award recipients are also measured on their incidence of surgical complications and infections, including:
- A wound that splits open after surgery
- Accidental cuts and tears
- Deaths from serious treatable complications
- Rate of complications for knee or hip replacement patients
- Catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI)
- Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) infections
To qualify for the award, a hospital must have arthroscopy, joint replacement, and spine surgery orthopedic services available to patients, onsite physical therapy, and an MRI. It is the only award recognizing excellence in orthopedics based on robust criteria considering patient satisfaction and clinical excellence.
Crossroads Community Hospital is one of 342 award recipients representing the hospitals that have met the highest standards for orthopedics care in the U.S. by the Women’s Choice Award.
Each year, there are more than 130 million emergency room visits in the U.S. Emergency departments. “Women make or influence 94% of all healthcare decisions for themselves and others,” said Delia Passi, founder and CEO of the Women’s Choice Award. “Knowing the Women’s Choice Award has already placed their seal of excellence on a hospital is immediate validation that they have made the right decision, easing their concern during a very stressful time.”
The methodology for America’s Best Hospitals for Emergency Care award combines Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey results with primary research about women’s healthcare preferences. The award recognizes excellence in emergency care based on several processes of care measures focused on time patients spent in the emergency department, including:
- Total Time Spent in the Emergency Department
- Percent of Emergency Patients Who Left Without Being Seen
Criteria for selecting Crossroads Community Hospital as one of America’s Best also included the percentage of patients who came to the emergency department with stroke symptoms who received brain scan results within 45 minutes of arrival. The awarded hospitals represent those with emergency departments with average measure times in the highest 25th to 50th percentile in the country.
“Crossroads Community Hospital not only performed well clinically about emergency care measures, but they also have a high recommendation rating, which is very important to women when it comes to health-related decisions,” said Passi.
Crossroads Community Hospital is one of 477 award recipients representing the hospitals that have met the highest standards for emergency care in the U.S. by the Women’s Choice Award.
“At Crossroads Community Hospital, we take great pride in the care we provide our patients,” said William Davis, CEO of Crossroads Community Hospital. “This recognition would not be possible without our dedicated team of physicians, nurses and support staff who are focused on caring for each patient who come through our doors. We are honored to be named as a hospital of choice.”
